Military shipbuilding industry should be promoted

Senior Lieutenant-General Truong Quang Khanh, Deputy Defence Minister, paid a working visit to Song Thu Company, under the General Department of National Defence Industry, on March 30th.

Last year, the unit fulfilled its political and economic tasks while moving the company to a new location under the Defence Minister’s instruction. Particularly, it exceeded the set production targets (120 per cent) by obtaining a remarkable turnover of VND 1.3 trillion and maintaining the stable income of VND 8 million per month for its over 1,000 employees.

This year, Song Thu Company inked contracts to build 8 ships for foreign clients and a ship of VND 1 trillion for the Vietsovpetro Joint Venture. The company is expected to reach the turnover of VND 1.5 trillion and increase workers’ monthly income to VND 8.5 million by the end of this year.

General Khanh expressed his pleasure at the unit’s achievements over the past time and urged it to continue to thoroughly grasp guidelines by the Defence Ministry and the General Department of National Defence Industry to invest in advanced equipment and in human resources development to be deserved being a bright example of Vietnam’s shipbuilding industry.
