In the morning of December 10th, 2013, PV shipyard held the steel cutting ceremony for Tam Dao 05 lift-off oil rig project. Attending the ceremony were representatives of the ship owner – Vietnam-Russia Joint Venture (VSP), Board of Directors, heads and deputy heads of the Departments, engineers and workers of PV shipyard.

Vietsovpetro inked a contract with PV Shipyard to build Tam Dao 05 lift-off oil rig project. The $200 million rig is slated to be completed over the course of 32 months of construction work. The rig, with a leg length of 481 ft., will be capable of drilling in up to 350 FSW (107 MSW) to a depth of 30,000 ft. This is Vietnam’s second offshore oilrig, and spanning 120m, its largest so far. PV Shipyard completed the first 90m rig in June 2012. Vietnam-Russia Oil and Gas Joint Venture (Vietsovpetro) now handles its operations.

Constructing the modern oilrig testifies to the impressive development of Vietnam’s oil and gas and mechanical engineering sectors.
