As a private news from the Vietnam Investment Newspaper, Oshima Shipbuilding Vietnam company stopped investment to build the shipyard at Cam Ranh city in Vietnam with the investment capital of USD 18omil. No reason was revealed for such a sudden project cancellation.
Oshima was approved to construct a yard worth a $180m investment from the Vietnam authorities and was scheduled to commence construction from August. However, the plan has been troubled due to unfinished site clearance of 304 hectares area.
Previously, the shipyard was planned to start operation starting in 2017 and to proceed a newbuilding business, with capacity to build 24 38,000-56,000 dwt vessels every year.
